O-Ring Materials - SI, VMQ, PVMQ,MQ,PMQ
Silicone Rubber (VMQ / SI) Elastomer Engineering Properties & Custom Manufacturing
Silicone Rubber (a high-purity synthetic polymer featuring a signature backbone alternate chain composed of silicon and oxygen atoms, recognized globally under international terminology standards as VMQ, SI, or MQ) represents a premium class of elastomer engineered with both organic polymer and inorganic molecular properties.
Unlike conventional carbon-backbone rubber polymers (such as NBR or EPDM), Silicone’s distinct cross-linked matrix unlocks world-class non-toxic purity, physiological inertness, peerless atmospheric ozone weatherability, and highly stable mechanical memory when functioning across severe temperature spectrums. These properties make it the baseline standard material utilized in global healthcare, sanitary food processing, consumer infant products, and thermal insulation electronic seals.
CNL SEALS manufactures precision-grade Silicone O-rings, custom industrial gaskets, and specialized vacuum cups formulated strictly to coordinate with global quality mandates.
Silicone VMQ Elastomer Core Technical Specifications
Operating Temperature Threshold: Continuous -40℃ ~ +200℃ .
Durometer/Hardness Range: 30 to 80 Shore A .
Material Specification Mapping: Aligned precisely with ASTM D2000 classification standards.
Sanitation & Medical Compliance (Available Upon Request): Fully compliant with US FDA 21 CFR 177.2600, European LFGB, and USP Class VI biological compatibility criteria.
Environmental Protection Mandates: 100% compliant with SGS-verified RoHS, REACH, and Halogen-Free certifications.
Key Engineering Advantages & Media Compatibility
Elite Thermal-Oxidative Flexibility: Retains absolute material stability, elasticity, and seal deflection memory without turning brittle in sub-zero environments or breaking down under high-heat loading.
Stellar Physiological Purity: Non-toxic, odorless, tasteless, and completely inert. It minimizes compound migration or chemical contamination when interfacing with organic matter or foodstuffs, showing robust inherent resistance to bacterial growth.
Top-Tier Weathering Stability: Exhibits flawless long-term defense against ozone cracking, direct solar UV aging, ambient oxygen exposure, and severe climate moisture weathering.
Outstanding Dielectric Insulation: Features high dielectric strength and electrical insulation properties, serving as an exceptional waterproof insulator for high-power electronics.
Material Constraints & Unsupported Working Environments
Low Mechanical Properties: Tensile strength, structural tear resistance, and overall abrasion durability are significantly inferior to NBR or polyurethane (PU) elastomers.
Highly Unsuitable for Dynamic Pressure Seals: Due to low wear resistance, it is strictly not recommended for rotary shaft sealing, reciprocating pistons, or aggressive frictional moving applications.
Vulnerable to Mineral Oils & Hydrocarbons: Displays very poor resistance to swelling and rapid mechanical breakdown when exposed to petroleum lubricants, fuels, hydraulic fluids, heavy mineral grease, strong acids, alkalis, and aromatic solvents. For applications requiring simultaneous heat and oil resistance, upgrading to FKM or premium FFKM is highly advised.
Primary Industrial Application Scopes
Food Processing & Sanitary Fluid Transfer: Commercial espresso machine gaskets, food-grade automated roller overlays, potable water purification lines, commercial baker ovens, and appliance microwave waterproofing seals.
Medical, Pharmaceutical & Biotech Systems: Medical ventilator interface masks, medical peristaltic pump tubing manifolds, single-use pharmaceutical bioprocess routing, and medical syringe piston plungers.
Electronics & Outdoor Enclosure Isolation: Commercial heavy outdoor LED housing waterproof seals, telecommunication terminal box environmental shielding gaskets, and high-voltage electrical connector insulating boots.
