O-ring-Damage Ozone Crack Analysis
Situation:
O-rings can cause tiny cracks in the surface when they are exposed to ozone or stretched open.
Reason:
1. The surface lubricity is not enough.
2. The O-ring is extruded due to pressure, or the size of the metal parts is too large, which makes the O-ring excessively elongated.
3. The use environment is not considered, and the common materials on the market (such as NBR) are used.
Solution:
1. Apply lubricating oil on the surface during installation.
2. Change the size of the O-ring or change the size of the groove.
3. When purchasing, inform the manufacturer of the use environment and choose ozone-resistant rubber materials (such as EPDM, Silicone, etc.).
